Speakers
|
 |
The
wall had to be doctored in order to fit the three large speakers we
chose for our front speakers.
To do this, we chiselled away the breeze blocks, and inserted a speaker
cabinet in each hole.
Once this was completed, we brought the whole chimney wall forward
with new plasterboard so that the speaker cabinets were flush with
the wall. All the wires to the speakers run behind the plasterboard
to the amplifiers in the alcove. |
You
can now clearly see the three front speakers and the temporary screen.
A proper one is on its way.
To the left of the chimney breast, the alcove is partly visible.
|
|
The
rear speakers are concealed in the ceiling, behind the sofa. The speakers
automatically drop down when in use and hide back in the ceiling when
we are done. |
 |
|
|
Cabling
|
All
the cables had to be concealed so that none were visible (that's mainly
to keep the Mrs happy and the cats safe!!). A false back in the equipment
rack hides the interconnects and cables running up into the ceiling. |
 |
 |
Cables
running from the amplifier to the projector and speakers are hidden
beneath the first floor floor-boards. |
Cables
to the projector are hidden behind a beam which was already there. |
|
|
Equipment
|
 |
All the necessary
sound and picture producing equipment is housed in a custom built
set of shelves.
The unit has
been built into the alcove in order to fill every bit of space and
look like a natural extension of the chimney breast.
The door on
the left hides the equipment while the DVD library is in the right
hand side of the cabinet.

The
Projector
|
The
projector lives on a little shelf against the wall behind us. |
 |
 |
We first thought about hanging it from the ceiling but thought it
would look better on a shelf as the drop from the ceiling would have
been quite deep. |

The
TV is gone...

Our
home cinema is now complete... It has taken us a long time.
Things
such as a wedding tend to put
a dent in progress.
Saying
that though, we have been at it since Dolby Pro-Logic was available and
have gone a long way since.
Take
a look at the details on the left to see what we have achieved...
