It all started many years ago during our first ever holiday together
far away...
We were in St Lucia when we found a PADI diving center which offered
try dives in the sea.
We gave it three tries and loved it... breathing under water, the
fish, the coral, etc...
We then forgot all about it for about three years, until we popped
in a Lunn Poly travel agent, looking for a quick get away.
The quick get away turned out to be a holiday in the Maldives in
december 1998, in the magical resort of Kuredu
with a pre-booked PADI
Openwater course.
Our instructor Eddie, taught both of us what we needed to know,
and we caught the bug.
We loved the resort and the ProDivers
crew so much that we booked a return trip for September 2000.
We didn't feel quite up to the PADI Advanced open water certification
at this stage, so decided to take an Enriched Air course which allows
us to dive with what is commonly known as Nitrox, a mixture of oxygen
and nitrogen which contains between 22% and 40% oxygen, instead
of the normal 21% that you are breathing now.
The bug had bitten again, and we booked another trip for December
2001 (our honeymoon) the day after our return. This time we went
for three weeks instead of the usual two.
This time, we decided that the night, wreck and drift dives needed
investigating, so we followed an Advanced Open Water course.
This is where we are at today, we are seriously considering Medic
First Aid, Rescue Diver and Divemaster courses to continue our diving
education.
