Overall weather Sunshine, two days of intermittent showers, the monsoon had not quite decided to go home yet.
Water Between 29 and 30 degrees Celsius.
Visibility Generally greater than 20 meters, lots of plancton hence MANTA RAYS...

House Reef

Walk up the jetty, jump in the water, swim to the buoy and hey, presto here is the house reef!! Colorful corals, moray eels, lots of lion fish, box fish, octopus.... and turtles if you are lucky.

Kanihura Corner

#33-Channel reef, Ocean side - 30mn boat
Depth: 5-25m - Lens: W or CU

Unicorn fish, schools of fusilliers, napoleon and tuna can be seen here. Big table corals and coral blocks are found on shallow topreef. A possibility of seeing large pelagic fish on the outreef which drops off to 25m. (Pictures)

#3 - Drop off/Caves - 60mn boat
Depth: 5-30m - Lens: W

Steep drop off on the outreef with large caves and overhangs. (Pictures)

The Wall

#17 - Inner Reef / drop off - 20mn boat
Depth: 3-30m - Lens: M or CU

Vertical reef with various kinds of soft corals in different colors. Small caves offering homes to moray eels. Shallow top reef with table corals. (Pictures)

Fushivaru Thila

#40 - Protected Marine Park - 45mn boat
Depth: 11-20m - Lens: W

Top reef is between 14 and 16m with large coral blocks. A large variety of table and soft corals. Many different types of fish species can be seen. The thila drops off to sand on either side with a possibility of seeing stingrays sleeping in the sand. (Pictures)

House Reef - AOW Buoyancy

Was fun!!! Did several buoyancy improvements and control exercices which resulted in all of us in the course dropping some weight!!

We kind of learnt to use a compass and calculate a distance by counting the number of fin kicks. The funniest part of this dive was before the dive, when we had to practise how to make a square pattern using our compass.... on land just in front of the dive centre...

#25 - Atoll reef - 10mn boat
Depth: 3-20m - Lens: CU or M

This Giri has a large population of fish life, ranging from snappers, napoleons to a possibility of large pelagic fish. The reef houses a variety of small fish species, ideal for photography. (Pictures)

#31 - Protected channel reef - 15mn boat
Depth: 5-25m - Lens: CU or W

Difficult with current. Out reef has 2 large overhangs. The channel is sandy with a strong possibility of large pelagic fish. Fish commonly seen are big schools of jackfish and other pelagic fish. (Pictures)

A small giri with nice coral formations. Possibility of turtles, ribbon eels and schools of yellow banded snappers. (Pictures)

A tongue shaped reef pointing into the channel. Various profile changes during dive, terraces, wall and drop off. Larger pelagic fish could be seen. (Pictures)
